Action Planning usually involves a specifically-focused project, initiative, or event that calls for a united effort among a group or team that is time sensitive, e.g., due to be completed in a few weeks or several months.
Offered virtually over 1 or 2 sessions, the core components result in a sequenced timeline with actions and tasks, distributed responsibilities and clearly-articulated outcomes, Sessions are typically 2.5-3 hours each.
With full participation of all, I guide the planning team through the following process steps:
• Givens: The parameters and facts of the situation • Victory: Quick capture of all aspects of a successful project • Current Reality: Planning Team's strengths & not-so-strong qualities; benefits and risks associated with anticipated success • Commitments: Essential ingredients of the project scope • Key Actions: Brainstorm of tasks and actions to be taken to succeed • Action Teams: Participants self-select which Action team to join • Project Calendar: Create coordinated, sequenced timeline, starting with the end in mind • Finalize Roles, Project Coordination, & Budgets: Check-in points, communication links and estimated costs • Name the Plan: Articulate the touchstone and motivation of the plan
